Arts & Imaging Studies Facilities

There is no question that RIT has one of the most modern, high-tech campuses in the nation. As an Arts & Imaging Studies student, you’ll work on state-of-the-art equipment in specialized computer labs, an art studio, a photo studio, digital printing labs, a press and bindery lab, and a multi-purpose classroom.

The Arts & Imaging Studies department facilities are located in the Booth (7A) building on the lower (A) and first floors. These A&IS facilities are used for all A&IS courses and also serve as open labs that you can access during evening and weekend hours to support your skill development in the associate degree programs and baccalaureate degree programs.

A&IS facilities are managed by Jim DeMarco & Troy Olivier.

Computer Labs (7A-A311; 7A-A321 areas a, b, c; 7A-1510; 7A-1515)

The department has six state-of-the-art computer labs, using the latest graphic arts software, to support design, desktop publishing, scanning, imaging, multimedia and Web production.

Digital Printing Labs (7A-A321 areas d, e)

In these state-of-the-art digital printing areas you will enjoy hands-on learning experiences using high-quality black & white and color xerography and both small-format and wide-format inkjet printing technologies.

Art Studio (7A-1470)

With plenty of feedback from faculty and fellow classmates, everyone in the art studio learns from each other. Here you can develop your skills with traditional media like markers, paints and pencils.

Photo Studio (7A-A642)

In a variety of digital photography and imaging courses, you’ll get hands-on learning using the controlled lighting environment of the photo studio.

Press & Bindery Lab (7A-A636)

You’ll get hands-on learning using a four-color offset lithography press with computer-to-plate technology and using the variety of binding and finishing equipment needed to complete a printed product.

Multi-Purpose Classroom (7A-A313)

In this “smart” classroom you may have class discussions, design and photo critiques, and perhaps even have one of your English classes.
