Welcome to RIT/NTID Arts & Imaging Studies
Welcome to the 2009–2010 academic year at Rochester Institute of Technology and the Arts & Imaging Studies department of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
I am delighted to present to you this new Arts & Imaging Studies (A&IS) website. A&IS faculty and RIT web specialists have spent many long hours designing, coding, and putting together the information within these pages. Please bookmark and use this website whenever you need information about the A&IS program and the people who continue to make this program so successful.
The 2009–10 year promises to be another exciting year and already there are several significant events expected this year within the A&IS department.
• The last students in the Art & Computer Design and Digital Imaging & Publishing Technology programs will graduate this year.
• The first group of students who started as Arts & Imaging Studies students will graduate this year.
• The ever-evolving A&IS curriculum is maturing and all the new courses have already been taught at least once -- so improvements and modifications will now be on the faculty work agenda
• The equiping of the A&IS labs continues to benefit from donations and purchases of new equipment and software.
This year we expect to have more than 140 students enrolled in the NTID A&IS associate degree programs and we expect to provide support for over 100 students enrolled in the many programs within the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences (CIAS). There are 24 A&IS faculty and 4 A&IS staff, 4 career counselors, 3 employment advisors, and 1 note-taking coordinator all dedicated to providing a great educational opportunity. That’s over 250 people in the A&IS family! Wow!
